Hi, everyone! I thought I should attempt to create a travel blog before I get too bogged down with finals and preparing to leave for my time abroad this summer. I will be leaving a couple of weeks after I finish finals, so my break in between classes will be spending time with family and friends, and figuring out how I can pack my fiance and pets in my suitcase with me. 🙂 I currently do not have any information on when I will be traveling to Greece, Cyprus, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, so I all I really need to do is make sure I make my flight and navigate my way to the institute I will be studying at in Freiburg, Germany. I am expecting it will be quite the shock for my once I arrive, as I have had little time to really mentally prepare myself for my time abroad while wrapping up a busy semester – but what better way to unwind after finals than to be in Europe close to the Swiss border (hello chocolate!) if I only ignore the State Department constantly warning me about terror threats for Europe as a whole.
If any of you are interested in daydreaming about where I will be staying this summer, seriously google Freiburg im Breisgau — it has got to be one of the cutest university towns. I cannot wait to stroll on the cobblestone streets in the morning toting a fresh coffee and my camera. Most of all: I am excited to go to Greece, as my childhood was spent re-watching Ancient and Classical Greek documentaries on the history channel; and don’t worry, there will be plenty of My Big Fat Greek Wedding references embedded in my stories specifically for my sisters, Gramma Rosie, and most importantly, my marmy: who may all love the movies as much as I do.
You can expect me to somewhat regularly update this blog while I am gone with funny antidotes seeing how the weirdest things seem to happen to me (stay tuned for a story about a petite, blonde girl hopelessly dragging her suitcases through Freiburg, while attempting to navigate her way to the institute, as I have been told that a taxi most likely will refuse to drive me since it is close to the train station.. psh), but you can also expect me to include information on my studies — I suggest scrolling past my economic lingo if that is not your style. I have a very mixed personality, so each blog post will most likely be very different from the previous. I’m sure I will be regularly posting pictures of my travels (aka random dogs seen from across the street) on this blog in addition to my instagram (@brittygoatsgruff). Feel free to contact me over Instagram, Facebook, Email, or WhatsApp at any time — there will be plenty of stories to share, I promise!
